Adults hibernate during the winter. This one came out to enjoy the unseasonably warm temperatures.
It's always a pleasant surprise when you come back from a hike and find a beautiful Compton Tortoiseshell basking in the sun on your Jeep tire.
This Compton's circled around me several times before landing on my back. Then it briefly perched on this truck before flying off.
